Athlete of the Month of February

Years at Five Forks Athletics: 5

When did you start at FFA?

I started at Five Forks Athletics in September 2016.

What is your favorite workout?

I love to lift heavy, so I enjoy any workout that has a heavy barbell in it, particularly snatches.  As long as it doesn’t have wall walks or HSPU’s with it!!

What type of exercise were you doing before FFA?

For most of my life I’ve been super involved in athletics, but prior to joining Five Forks Athletics, I started CrossFit while living in Arkansas.  Prior to that most of my exercise activity was distance running.

What are your health and fitness goals and have you achieved any of those goals?  How is it going so far?

Honestly as I get older, my health and fitness goals are to continue to show up, work hard, eat healthy, and stay fit.  The one thing I want to make sure I do is provide a good example for my kids and hopefully they focus on their health and fitness as well.  Mobility is another area I’ve really tried to focus on and have made quite a bit of improvement in this area and it’s paid off in others areas.

Has Five Forks Athletics affected your life outside the gym?

Absolutely!  It’s so great to be a part of a group of like minded people, both inside and outside of the gym.  I’ve met such a great group of folks who push me every single day in the gym and that carries over to life outside of the gym.

Do you have any other special memories/achievements during your time here?

It’s always a special moment when you finish up that last mile of Murph.  Especially the first time you put on the vest and do it unpartitioned.  I’ll also never forget the first strength cycle when I joined the gym was overhead squats and Jonathan had me using 5 pound plates under my heels and I could barely squat the bar.  I’ve come a long way since that day!!
