WHEN DID YOU START AT FIVE FORKS ATHLETICS?

“My husband, Rodney, and I joined July of 2018.”


WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT?

“For the first 3 years I was attending the Crossfit workouts. My favorite workouts were the ones with front squats, back squats and thrusters. Now that we have evoFIT, I like the steady workouts with cardio and abs combined. Every day is a different workout with stations and sometimes a break to breathe. I have even gotten to like the bike and some running but burpees and bear crawls are the worst.”


WHAT TYPE OF EXERCISES WERE YOU DOING BEFORE FIVE FORKS ATHLETICS?

“I had worked out off and on throughout the years but my schedule was very sporadic. The only exercise I

was doing was some hiking but no organized exercise. The thing that pushed me to FFA was the fact we were going to Utah to hike Zion and Bryce Canyons. Since we had been before, I wanted this time to be fun and not so taxing. I wanted to enjoy the hikes instead of huffing and puffing since Bryce Canyon is above 8,000 feet. In trying to find a place that would fit both Rodney and myself, Vickie Maxwell encouraged us to try FFA and Crossfit. With that said, I came home from work one day and informed Rodney we were joining Crossfit at FFA. That started our journey with the best place on earth.”


WHAT ARE YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS GOALS AND HAVE YOU ACHIEVED ANY OF THOSE GOALS?

“I had several goals that I wanted to accomplish. First, I wanted to get strong to fight old age and infirmity (I am currently 68). I could see myself losing strength and energy to the point that I would have to take a nap after work to just cook dinner and do chores. Second, I wanted to lose weight and change my blood

pressure and blood sugar numbers. When I started FFA my A1C was 9.2 and within a few weeks with good nutrition and working out my A1C was 5.5. The numbers on the scale came down slowly (and is still a work in progress) but the inside numbers were more important. I have noticed that my heart

health has improved greatly as well. The heart is a muscle and I feel it gaining strength, muscle, and energy. Bobby Clark has been my encouragement and inspiration!”


HAS FIVE FORKS ATHLETICS AFFTECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE THE GYM?

“When you are part of FFA your life is full of blessings. We have made friends that check on us when we are not there. We have lunch, watch football and plan weekends together. The members of the 8:30 evoFIT class are on a group text and we all talk often. We usually plan a get together with the families

once a month. Five Forks Athletic is not just a gym – the community is a part of your whole life.”


DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SPECIAL MEMORIES OR ACHIEVEMENTS DURING YOUR TIME HERE?

“This summer, we hiked Glacier National Park to the tune of 48 miles. This achievement could not have been accomplished without FFA preparing me mentally and physically. We went to Colorado and hiked Manitoba Springs – 2,778 steps straight up for 1 mile until you reach the top and are overlooking the

town. That trek was an awakening as to how important FFA is to me. I would say that was my greatest accomplishment. I would like everyone to know that it doesn’t matter your size or shape or age – FFA will help you. When I started, I could not perform a lunge without holding on to the rig. My balance was

a wreck so you can imagine how deadlifts on one leg looked like. Don’t ever put off starting your health journey because you can’t do something others can do. Remember, you are a work in progress – I didn’t learn to play the piano in a day, a week, a month or a year – it took years! Come join us – you might just

find extra blessings for your life as you walk this journey of good health. The coaches are wonderful and ready to step in when you have a need with training or nutrition. You will only find encouragement and cheers from everyone, young and old. I love my gym family!”
