Years at Five Forks Athletics: 2

When did you start at FFA?

Me and Corey started Five Forks Athletics a week and a half after the new gym location opened.  Almost 2.5 years ago!


What is your favorite workout?

I love a long METCON!  The feeling of finding a groove in the first 10 minutes of a 25+ min workout is the best.  I think I also like the bike.  Can someone tell me what’s so bad about it?!


What type of exercise were you doing before FFA?

I used to be an avid soccer player until I got booted off the Varsity soccer team in high school because I was a slow runner.  HAH!  So, I started running a lot to prove them wrong.  I joined the high school cross country and progressed to 1/2 marathons in my 20’s.  There was no turning back.  I became a crazy person,  I would run 30-40 miles in a week whether there was rain, snow, sleet, or extreme heat.  Running became life!


What are your health and fitness goals and have you achieved any of those goals?  How is it going so far?

There are so many goals that I have!  I want to be able to string toes to bar together in a workout, run a 6:00 min mile (fastest mile so far is 6:28), run a 1:45 half marathon (I’ve been stuck at 1:52 for the longest time!), and get a 125lb power clean at 110lbs body weight!


Has Five Forks Athletics affected your life outside the gym?

I still love running and sometimes prefer it over Crossfit workouts, but you know what I’ve noticed?  Crossfit compliments my running!  I feel much more powerful running now than I did three years ago.  Prior to starting FFA, I thought being smaller would make me a faster runner, boy was I wrong!  In the past few years, I gained 10lbs and am much faster that I have ever been!  I remember when I first started here, coach Heather told me to throw away the scale and life hasn’t been the same since!  FFA has helped me with my relationship with food in ways that I cannot describe.  I now eat to supplement my life, fitness, and mental well-being!


Do you have any other special memories/achievements during your time here?

I am so glad that I have the support, encouragement, and friendship that the classes and coaches provide.  If it wasn’t for that, I would have quit a long time ago!
