I started my fitness journey in March 2013 after years of being told by my primary care physician I needed to get off the couch and exercise. At 63 I was overweight at 217 lbs. I did some personal training and began doing workouts at a local gym. I became interested in CrossFit and I joined Five Forks Athletics when the gym opened in October 2013. I loved being in the group classes, the varied exercises, and the weightlifting. Since then I have lost 60 lbs. and believe I’m proof that it is never too late to get yourself back in shape and be fit and healthy.
In 2017 I earned my CrossFit L1 certificate and the owners of FFA gave me the opportunity to coach at the gym. Since then I have been working out, coaching classes, and training new athletes joining the gym. I have taken the CrossFit Masters course to help advance my skills to coach older athletes and I earned my L2 CrossFit certificate in May of 2022. When God says I have plans for you I never in my wildest dreams thought about a career in fitness.
I am originally from Pittsburgh PA via NJ and retired after careers in the entertainment business, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity. I am active in my church, I love to read, and I’m a huge fan of the Pittsburgh sports teams.
